Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pomo: ADHD Focus Timer?
Pomo is a free Pomodoro timer for iPhone designed for people with ADHD. It uses the Pomodoro technique — focused work sessions followed by short breaks — to help you start tasks, stay on track, and build a consistent habit. Streaks, achievements, and visual progress make the process a little more engaging for the ADHD brain.
Is Pomo free?
Yes, free to download and use. A one-time purchase unlocks custom timer durations, unlimited sessions, and all achievements. No subscription, no recurring charges — pay once, it's yours. Price starts at $2.99 and may vary by region (up to $4.99).
How is Pomo different from other Pomodoro timers?
Most Pomodoro timers are built for people who already know how to sit down and focus. Pomo is built for everyone else. It reduces friction to start, gives you visual progress to stay engaged, and tracks streaks in a way that doesn't punish you for taking the weekend off. Less of a clock, more of a quiet companion.
Which languages are available?
English and Russian. More languages are planned.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
The Pomodoro technique is a time management method where you work in focused intervals — typically 25 minutes — followed by a short break. After a few sessions, you take a longer break. The structure helps reduce procrastination and makes large tasks feel more manageable. Pomo is built around this method, with sensible defaults you can adjust to fit your rhythm.
Is the Pomodoro technique good for ADHD?
It can be. Short, time-bound sessions work well for the ADHD brain — they lower the barrier to starting and provide a clear endpoint. The built-in breaks help prevent burnout. Pomo adds streaks and achievements on top of that to make the habit easier to maintain over time.
Can I customize the timer duration?
Yes, with the one-time purchase. You can set your own work session length, break duration, and daily goal. The default is 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of break — a classic Pomodoro setup that works well for most people.
Does Pomo work without an internet connection?
Yes. Pomo works fully offline. No account, no sync, no internet required.
Does Pomo have a daily goal?
Yes. You can set a daily goal — a number of sessions you want to complete each day. It's there as a gentle target, not a deadline. You can adjust it anytime in Settings.
What are streaks in Pomo?
A streak counts how many days in a row you've completed at least one session. Weekends don't break your streak — so if you take Saturday and Sunday off, your streak continues on Monday. Rest is part of the practice.
What are the achievements in Pomo?
Achievements are milestones that unlock as you use the app. Each one is part of a larger story — illustrated scenes that unfold as you build your practice. They're not tied to daily targets or streaks. They come when they come.
What is Live Activity in Pomo?
Live Activity shows your current timer and session progress directly on the lock screen. You can see which step you're on and how many sessions are left — without opening the app.
